Traditional Chinese Medicine is an ancient holistic approach to health and embraces the ‘four levels’ of the physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual body.

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?

Over two thousand years ago, the Chinese realised that the causes of disease in the body resulted from diet, lifestyle, and the harsh elements of our earth. In addition to this, they recognised that emotional imbalance could disturb health. Today we might interpret this as stress which may then result in obstruction of the channels, meridians, and pathways.

Traditional Chinese Medicine looks at diagnosing where these obstructions have occurred and assists to bring them back into balance in order to restore health.

When obstructions are present, it will often cause pain and when the body’s natural signalling systems break down, it is believed that this paves the way for disease.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient technique used to promote movement, increase circulation, and relieve painful conditions in the body.

The application of cupping is through the use of suction. The suction gives you a feeling of tightness which is different from the feeling of pressure that you would get during a massage.

It is traditionally believed that the action of the suction exerted by the cups promotes self-healing.

There are very few side effects experienced with cupping however bruising may occur. Not everyone is suitable for cupping and a consultation with one of our experienced practitioners will enable an effective treatment outcome.

Ear Candling

Ear candling may provide gentle and soothing relief for ear and sinus congestion, headaches and migraines, stress, and can assist with sleeping better.

Ear candling is used to assist in loosening the wax in the outer section of the ear. The skin of the ear canal is lined with hair follicles and glands that produce waxy oil to protect the ear from dust and foreign particles. This wax eventually makes its way to the opening of the ear where it falls out.

Problems may arrive when the wax is forced back into the ear by objects or poor cleaning methods which may cause blockages.
Ear Candling is another Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment and should be administered by a registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner. The health professionals at Ultra Health Therapies provide a friendly, relaxing environment and ensure that you are at ease at all times throughout your treatment.

Ear Candling is suitable for adults and may be suitable for children above the age of 4.

At Ultra Health Therapies, we use only the highest grade of ear candles made in Australia. These candles are carefully handmade from unbleached cotton fabric infused with pure beeswax.

Gua Sha Gold Coast

Gua Sha is used to promote health and wellbeing and aims to relieve painful, sore, and tight muscle conditions.

Gua Sha consists of scraping over an area of skin with a smooth tool. Gua Sha does not pierce the skin, and can be effective in removing tightness, stiffness, and congestion in the underlying tissues. Once again, this feeling is different from the pressure received from a massage. This Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment is used for specific areas of the body and it is believed that you may feel the benefit almost immediately.

Gua Sha is generally safe however, mild superficial bruising may occur. Any bruising will typically leave the skin quickly and usually doesn’t last more than three days if it does occur.
