Emotional health therapies encompass a range of gentle techniques that support mental and emotional well-being. Techniques are used with the aim to reduce stress, promote resilience, release emotional blocks, and promote balance.

What are Emotional Health Therapies?

Our emotional wellbeing plays a vital role in how we experience life — shaping our thoughts, our relationships, and even our physical health. ^In Australia, 1 in 5 people are affected by a mental health condition, but many more experience everyday emotional challenges that can leave them feeling overwhelmed or disconnected.

Emotional Health Therapies take a holistic approach to healing. Rather than focusing on symptoms alone, these therapies explore the deeper emotional layers that influence how we think, feel, and respond. Combining gentle psychological techniques with somatic and energetic practices, they aim to assist with processing difficult experiences, build resilience, and reconnect individuals with their inner calm.

Whether you’re navigating stress, anxiety, grief, trauma, or simply seeking greater self-awareness, Emotional Health Therapies may be a powerful support. They may complement other health treatments or stand alone as part of your journey to greater emotional balance.

MAP Method™

The MAP Method™ (Make Anything Possible) is a neuroscience-based technique designed to work directly with the subconscious mind by rewiring the brain’s emotional response system by neutralising the negative feelings attached to past memories. Our long-term memories are formed through a process called consolidation, where emotional experiences—especially intense or traumatic ones—are deeply encoded in the brain. These memories often carry strong emotional imprints, which can be re-triggered whenever the brain encounters a situation it subconsciously links back to the original event.

The MAP Method™ works by helping the subconscious gently process and release those emotional charges, without erasing the memory itself. The memory remains, but the emotional response attached to it shifts. This creates space for new, more empowered perspectives to emerge—allowing individuals to look at past situations through a fresh lens, free of fear, anxiety, shame, or pain.

EFT or Tapping

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or Tapping)

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as ‘Tapping’, is an approach that allows individuals to rewire the brain’s responses to stress and negative emotions. It combines elements of cognitive therapy and acupressure to help clear emotional blockages and develop a greater sense of calm, resilience, and emotional balance.

The process works with individuals gently tapping specific meridian points on the face and the body while focussing on or voicing phrases related to the issues they are facing. This process aims to stimulate the body’s energy system and helps to reduce the production of stress hormones such as cortisol. With this simple yet powerful technique, the emotional intensity associated with anxiety, phobias, and even physical pain may be reduced.

With regular practice, EFT can empower individuals to take an active role in managing their emotional well-being. Many clients find EFT to be a practical and accessible tool to release emotional tension, enhance inner peace, and support overall emotional health.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that promotes balance and harmony within the body, mind and spirit. Reiki is a combination of two Japanese words which when put together means Universal Life Force Energy. This traditional system of healing works on four levels: physical, spiritual, mental and emotional.

Reiki is a non-invasive technique which involves a skilled practitioner transmitting this Universal Life Force Energy through their hands to the client. This can be done by either gently laying their hands on the body, hovering their hands slightly above it, or when there is distance, through a video call.

This channelling of energy is believed to release stored emotional tensions and stimulate the body’s self-healing abilities. Many clients report feelings of warmth, tingling, deep relaxation, and inner calm during a Reiki session. Reiki sessions may offer a holistic approach alongside medical treatments to support healing and nurture emotional and physical health.

FAQ’s about Emotional Health Therapies

  • Do I need to talk about my trauma during MAP?

No, you don’t need to talk about any trauma or difficult experiences in detail. The MAP Method™ works at the subconscious level, making it a gentle approach for sensitive issues. Our Practitioners do not want you to relive anything that makes you feel upset or scared and neither do you need to.

  • Can MAP be done online?

Yes, the MAP Method™ sessions can be conducted remotely via video calls. Our Practitioner’s do not need to be in person with you, however, you do have the option of coming into clinic.

  • Is MAP like Hypnotherapy?

While the MAP Method™ is similar to Hypnotherapy, they are not the same. Both therapies work with the subconscious mind however, how they do this is different. Hypnosis requires the client to sink deep into relaxation and uses guided meditation to access the subconscious mind, while MAP talks to the subconscious mind directly, without the need to go into deep relaxation.

  • Can I do EFT or ‘tapping’ myself?

Yes, with proper guidance, you can practice EFT on your own, in your home or wherever you are. That being said, some people do prefer to work with a trained practitioner for ongoing deeper issues.

  • Is there scientific evidence for EFT?

Yes, growing research supports EFT’s effectiveness in reducing stress and emotional distress. You can read one such study below:

  • Is Reiki safe?

Reiki is a non-invasive therapy where the Practitioner does not need to touch you. Our Practitioner’s will ensure that you feel safe and secure during their sessions and you can of course stop the session at any time if you feel uncomfortable.

  • What conditions can Reiki help with?

Reiki may support conditions such as stress, pain management, sleep issues, emotional blockages, and overall well-being.

  • How many sessions do I need?

The number of sessions you require to support your emotional health depends on you and your needs. Your Practitioner will be able to discuss a tailored plan with you during an initial consultation.
